Our tours have been designed to make the most of your stay whilst at Rangelands
Outback Cap. We highly recommend a 3 or 4 night stay combined with tour 1 & 2
(please note the particular days of the week that these tours depart).
If you are feeling more adventurous add on a helicopter tour and mix and match our
road based and air based tours for an unforgettable once-in-a lifetime experience.

All tours book out early therefore please ensure you book your preferred tours 
whilst booking your accommodation.

The Outback like you never imagined…

TOUR 1 – “Must Do” 4WD Tour, Australian Age of Dinosaurs, Waltzing Matilda Centre and Horse & Carriage ride 

(Tues, Thurs & Sat only) Your day commences with a gourmet breakfast on the deck at Rangelands followed by a full day tour in our comfortable and fully equipped 4WD bus. Your first stop is Australian Age of Dinosaurs housing Australia’s largest collection of Australian dinosaur bones. Your full tour includes the Laboratory, Collection Room, Dinosaur Canyon, and March of the Titanosaurs. After enjoying a hamper lunch break, we head back into Winton to explore the Waltzing Matilda Centre – the first Museum ever built dedicated to a song. The Waltzing Matilda Centre boasts a state-of-the-art interpretation telling the story of Waltzing Matilda. To finish off an amazing day you’ll sit back in your 100-year-old Landau carriage and enjoy the clip clop of the horse’s hooves soaking up the commentary about the features, characters and history of Winton.

Tour also Includes: lunch and admission to the Age of Dinosaurs, Waltzing Matilda Centre and Horse & Coach ride.

TOUR 1A (add-on) – “Meet the Dinosaurs”

Start your day a little later, departing Rangelands Outback Camp on a one-way Heli-trip to join your 4WD tour at Australian Age of Dinosaurs (min 2 max 3 pax). $330 pp

TOUR 1B (add-on) – “Follow the Sunset”

MUST BE PURCHASED IN CONJUNCTION WITH TOUR 1 (Tues, Thurs & Sat ONLY)

After your full day 4WD tour you’ll enjoy a one-way trip back to Rangelands Outback Camp for sundowners (min 2 max 3 pax). $330 pp

TOUR 2 – “Must Do” 4WD Tour, a Dinosaur Stampede at Lark Quarry and Carisbrooke Station

 (Tues, Wed, Fri & Sun only)

Your day commences with an early breakfast on the deck at Rangelands followed by a full day tour by 4WD bus. You will visit the world’s only evidence of a Dinosaur Stampede at Lark Quarry Conservation Park and be standing beside 3300 dinosaur footprints that were left millions of years ago. We then travel to Carisbrooke Station to experience all the natural wonders and history of this spectacular location. Click pics of the Three Sisters and sit back and enjoy the open expanse of this spectacular landscape known as “The Channel Country”.

7 hour experience: $150 pp

Tour Includes: Morning tea, Hamper lunch and admission to the Dinosaur Stampede Conservation Park.

TOUR 3 – “Joining the Opal Diggers”

Helicopter Tour (subject to operational limits & availability)

After an early tea or coffee starter, you’ll leave Rangelands Outback Camp for Opalton. A photographer’s dream – flying low over an ever-changing outback terrain for the 45 min flight to this historic “way out west” Opal mining dig. After meeting the local miners you’ll be ready for a camp breakfast then a tour and fossick to try your luck finding Opals or spend some happy time in the miner’s canteen choosing a gem or two to take home. Fly back to Winton for lunch (not included) (min 2 max 3 pax)

4 hour experience $1250 pp    

(This Tour could also be moved later to make it a lunch excursion instead of breakfast.)

TOUR 4 – “Remotest Pub Crawl”

Helicopter Tour (subject to operational limits & availability)

Visit one of Queensland’s most isolated pubs. The Middleton Hotel was built during the horse & stagecoach era and was a changing station where tired horses were replaced with fresh ones in the middle of nowhere between Winton and Boulia. Visit the “Goldstone” movie set and the “Conn Waterhole” before heading home to Rangelands Outback Camp (min 2 max 3 pax). This 5-hour experience includes lunch: $1760 pp

TOUR 5 – “Dinosaurs Galore”

Helicopter Tour (subject to operational limits & availability)

Fly over Carisbrooke Station & the Three Sisters & tour the Dinosaur Stampede at Lark Quarry returning to Rangelands Outback Camp (min 2 max 3 pax) includes admissions & hamper lunch, 6-hour experience: $1250 pp

TOUR 6 – “Dinosaurs & More Dinosaurs”

This is the ultimate outback dinosaur experience visiting the Australian Age of Dinosaurs and the Dinosaur Stampede at Lark Quarry all in one day (min 2 max 3 pax) includes admissions & hamper lunch, 6-hour experience: $1450 pp 

TOUR 7 – “Beauty of the Outback”

TOUR 8 – “Bonza Diamantina & Lark Quarry

Light Aircraft Tour (subject to operational limits & availability)

Not many people get to have this aerial flight experience over the Diamantina flood plain where the mighty channel country rivers flow towards Lake Eyre. A diversion on the return trip will drop you into the Lark Quarry airstrip for a guided tour of the only known Dinosaur Stampede in the world and where you will get to see 3,300 Dinosaur footprints laid in this very spot so many millions of years ago. A short flight back to Winton will cap off a very memorable day. (min 4 pax) includes refreshment hamper & admissions 5-hour experience: $3,300 Total (up to 4 pax) 

TOUR 9 – “Bonza Lark Quarry

Nothing beats seeing the outback from above and this trip from Winton Airport to Lark Quarry will give you the perfect chance to see the world from the sky and then the world as it was millions of years ago when Dinosaurs left their footprints in a muddy watering hole leaving behind 3,300 footprints for you to see just as they were left by those Dinosaurs so long ago. (min 4 pax) includes admissions, refreshment hamper. 3-hour experience: $2,200 Total (max 4 pax*  depending on weight restrictions)

TOUR 10 – “Bonza Lark Quarry Combo(Popular choice)

Light Aircraft/4WD Tour (subject to operational limits & availability)

If you’re travelling in a group of 4 then a great way to see Lark Quarry Dinosaur Stampede is to have 2 fly out to Lark Quarry & 2 take the 4WD Tour to Lark Quarry and then swap around for the return trip 2 flying & 2 driving so everyone gets to fly & drive.(min 4ppl) Includes admissions, lunch hamper 5 hour experience: $395 pp (Min 4 pax)

TOUR 11 – “Bonza Transfers Longreach – Winton – Longreach

Light Aircraft tour (subject to operational limits* & contact us for availability)

If you would prefer to have the comfort and sightseeing opportunity of transferring between Longreach and Winton airports by air (and Vice Versa) when you are staying at Rangelands Outback Camp then we have designed this opportunity for you. (up to 4 pax) 1 hour experience: $3,900 Total * (luggage & weights critical)

TOUR 12 – “Bladensburg National Park”

(Wednesday Only)

Your day commences with a gourmet breakfast on the deck at Rangelands followed by a half day tour by 4WD Bus to see the original Homestead of Bladensburg and visit Scrammy Gorge, the lookout and the Skull Hole. A touch of the pioneer era and some of the dark history of the past. (Min 4 pax) Morning Tea included 4-hour
experience: $90 pp

Important Note

Helicopter tours are operated by Elite Aviation Services Pty Ltd based in Winton, Qld.   Prices are shown per person in Australian Dollars and are inclusive of GST.  All tours are sold on a per seat basis. Tours are only confirmed with a minimum of 2 passengers. Helicopter capacity allows 2-3 passengers on a flight whilst Light Aircraft capacity allows 4 passengers on a flight. All flights are subject to availability & confirmed passenger weights (operation weight limits per seat are applicable) and weather.  Seating allocation is based on a weight & balance calculation and at the discretion of the ground crew or pilot in command to ensure the safe carriage of all passengers.  Please note that all passengers are required to wear a seatbelt during flight regardless of any medical condition.
