Rangelands Outback Camp is located on a private station approximately 15-minutes-drive from Winton in Outback Queensland.  Access to this Rangelands station by private vehicle is not permitted.  

Drive

You don’t need a 4WD to get to Winton, with sealed highways making it straightforward to drive to the real Outback.

IMPORTANT NOTE: 
All Rangelands Camp guests arriving by private vehicle will be provided with a secure parking spot in Winton.  They will then be transferred to/from the camp via Rangelands Shuttle Service. Transfers to/from Longreach can be organised at an additional fee – please contact us for details.

Rail

Queensland Rail, Travel Train operates Spirit of the Outback rail services twice weekly to and from Brisbane to Longreach. There is a rail coach link to Winton – so you can book your entire trip to Winton on Travel Train.

The overnight journey from Brisbane takes approx. 26 hours. It is essential to book First Class berths well in advance.

Fly

Regional Express (REX) has flights into Winton every Tuesday and Thursday on a loop departing from Townsville, which connects with Qantas Link flights in Longreach.

An alternative to flying directly into Winton is taking the daily Qantas Link flight from Brisbane to Longreach where hire cars are available through Avis and Budget.


Guest Services & Information

Just 12 pampered adult (18+) guests are permitted at Rangelands Outback Camp at any one time. Due to its unique rural location on a working cattle station, pets are not permitted. The following exclusive guest services are included in your stay:

  • Shuttle transfer service: A daily shuttle coach transfer operates twice daily between Rangelands Outback Camp and downtown Winton.  Morning transfer operates between 8.00am & 9.00am. Afternoon transfer operates between 3.30pm & 4.30pm.
  • Daily guided walking tour of Rangelands Rifts (located onsite):  Explore a selection of corridors and caves carved out by natural erosion over millions of years. In recent times these rifts have been used for major film locations including The Proposition starring Guy Pearce. Access is via guided tour only and a medium level of fitness is required. Please chat to our onsite team if you have concerns about your physical ability to participate on this walk.
  • Sunset Drinks & Canapes on Sunset Deck: You are invited to join other guests on the Sunset Deck each afternoon for our exclusive sunset drinks and canapes session. This is a truly memorable outback sunset viewing location.
  • Onsite Meals & Dining Experiences: Guests of Rangelands Outback Camp enjoy a menu of delicious chef-prepared breakfasts & gourmet dinners. Lunch hampers are provided on demand for guests not joining a day tour (min 48 hours’ notice required). Indulge on included premium wines, beer and top-shelf spirits during your stay.
  • Local Touring Program: Choose to do as much or as little as you please while a guest at Rangelands Outback Camp. A selection of small group 4WD tours and scenic flights are on offer for an additional charge. Please view our tour page for more information. Tours are subject to availability and it is essential that these tours are booked a minimum 48 hours prior to arrival.
  • Dietary Requirements: Any requests for special dietary requirements need to be advised at time of booking. Due to our off-grid remote location we have had to implement a responsible policy for catering to dietary allergies. As such we can accommodate those dietary requirements that do not challenge our kitchen and food suppliers. IMPORTANT NOTE: Given that we are not a 100% GF restaurant, we are unable to guarantee guests with Coeliac disease that there will be no cross contamination of Gluten. Please inform our team at time of booking if you suffer from any food allergies to ensure that your health and well-being needs are met.
  • Sustainability & Inclusivity: This exclusive access camp operates off grid and has been carefully planned to protect the surrounding natural environment. The six luxury tents are powered by their own solar panels with the added support of a backup generator. To protect our natural environment, we ask guests to leave their own toiletries at home. Our luxury ensuites include a selection of fully natural and biodegradable products for your use. Rangelands Outback Camp offers an eco-friendly adventure experience to all regardless of their backgrounds, demographics, identities, orientations or religions.
  • Recommended Clothing & Luggage: Guests are encouraged to bring relaxed, casual wear for the day. Light hiking boots are recommended if you intend to participate in walks and other outdoor activities. Relaxed smart casual wear is suggested for dinners at the Camp. Bring warm layers or jackets for evenings as temperatures can be quite cold after sundown during the winter months. Pack using soft bags rather than hard suitcases where possible. If you intend on using our helicopter or light aircraft transfers, we ask that you limit baggage to no more that 15kg per person.
  • Travel Insurance: Guests are strongly encouraged to purchase travel insurance prior to travel.
  • Mobile Phone Coverage: Whilst we encourage guests to unplug and unwind during your stay, we recognise the need to remain connected with family and friends. Telstra 3G/4G service is available in most locations within the camp. We can offer guests use of the camp phone when required.
  • Medical Services & Prescriptions: There is a pharmacy, hospital and ambulance service in Winton.
  • Room Servicing: Our luxury tents are serviced daily.
  • Smoking: All tents and communal property facilities are non-smoking.
